Documentationv0.1.2 · Windows 10 & 11

Learn the island.Own your flow.

A complete guide to every part of ZenithBar — from the first expansion to the details that make it disappear into your workflow.

01 · Start here

Meet your island

Install ZenithBar, choose where it lives and learn the few gestures that unlock the entire experience.

Before you begin

ZenithBar is built for 64-bit editions of Windows 10 and Windows 11. Install it, open Settings from the island’s context menu, then choose your language, theme, display and activation behavior.

  1. 01
    Install and launch

Run the Windows installer. ZenithBar appears at the center of your selected screen’s top edge.

  2. 02
    Choose how it opens

Use On hover for a fluid reveal or On click when you want the island to remain completely deliberate.

  3. 03
    Add your essentials

Connect Calendar, pin apps in Quick Access and drop current files onto the file shelf.

Right-click is your control room
Right-click the island for instant access to Settings, Calendar, Files, Focus Mode, Notifications, Appearance and System Information.

The four primary spaces

Home

Media, a week calendar and upcoming events.

Quick Access

Your pinned Windows apps and shortcuts.

Files

A searchable, draggable working shelf.

Clipboard

Local history for text, links, images and colors.

03 · Now playing

Playback where you can see it

ZenithBar reads the active Windows media session and gives you precise controls without pulling another window forward.

Controls that stay in context

  • View cover artwork, track title, artist, album and the source application.
  • Play, pause, skip backward or forward, scrub the timeline and change the source app’s volume.
  • Keep a compact music preview visible while the island is closed, or hide media entirely.
Native Windows media sessions
ZenithBar currently follows desktop players and installed music PWAs. Regular browser tabs do not take over the island’s media preview.

Supported sessions include popular players such as Spotify, YouTube Music, Apple Music, Amazon Music, Deezer, TIDAL, SoundCloud, MusicBee, foobar2000 and AIMP when they expose playback through Windows.

04 · Schedule

Your day, one glance away

Connect Google Calendar, merge the calendars you care about and open meetings directly from the island.

  1. 01
    Connect Google

Open Settings → Calendar and sign in through the secure Google authorization window.

  2. 02
    Choose calendars

Select the active account and enable any additional calendars you want merged into the island.

  3. 03
    Set reminders

Turn on event reminders and choose a lead time from 5 to 60 minutes.

  • The week strip and upcoming event list update automatically.
  • Select an event to open it in Google Calendar or join its linked meeting.
  • Calendar access is read-only; ZenithBar does not edit or delete your events.
  • All-day events appear in the schedule but do not generate reminder previews.
05 · Apps

Your essential apps, pinned

Keep your most-used Windows apps inside the island, arrange them around your workflow and launch them instantly.

Quick Access supports up to 13 apps. The first six stay immediately visible; the remaining seven live in the More area.

  • Search the installed-app catalog or choose a custom executable.
  • Drag apps to reorder them around your actual workflow.
  • Enable hover labels when icons alone are not enough.
  • Launch any pinned app without leaving the current workspace first.
06 · File shelf

A shelf above every window

Collect working files and folders, search them, organize them and drag them into any app without opening Explorer first.

Work with files, not windows

  • Drop files or folders onto the island, then drag them back out into any compatible application.
  • Search the shelf or filter by folders, files and images. Image items include visual previews.
  • Create internal folders, rename items, reorder them and move content between folders.
  • Link a real folder to open its current contents in Explorer without copying the whole directory.
  • Open project folders with detected IDEs and dock useful folders to any screen corner.
  • Removed items go to the shelf trash, where they can be restored or deleted permanently.
Shelf limits
The working shelf accepts up to 20 items, with a 25 MB limit per file and 100 MB total. It is designed for active work, not long-term storage.
07 · History

Everything you copied, organized

Text, links, images and colors become a visual, searchable history that stays on your computer.

ZenithBar watches the Windows clipboard and turns supported content into a visual history. New captures are classified as text, links, images or colors and grouped by date.

  • Search everything or filter by History, Text, Links, Images, Colors and Pinned.
  • Copy an item again, open a saved link, drag content out or remove it from history.
  • Pin important items and create collections for related references.
  • Use Clear to remove only the items represented by the current filter.
Copy confirmation
ZenithBar can pause each new capture for 5–30 seconds, giving you time to Keep or Discard it before it becomes part of history.
08 · Companion

Move files across the room

Pair a phone on the same Wi-Fi and send files between it and your PC through a private local connection.

  1. 01
    Pair

Open Phone Transfer and scan the QR code with a phone connected to the same Wi-Fi network.

  2. 02
    Choose a direction

Send files from the island to the paired phone, or use the phone page to upload files back to the PC.

  3. 03
    Receive

Incoming files on Windows are saved to Downloads. Multiple outgoing items are bundled into one ZIP.

Local by design
Transfers travel across your local network using a temporary pairing token. The files are not routed through a ZenithBar cloud server.

The Android companion can keep receiving in the background. On phones with aggressive battery optimization, allow background activity if large transfers stop when the screen turns off.

09 · Alerts

Windows alerts, distilled

See compact, stacked previews with controls for privacy, grouping and how long each alert remains visible.

  • Show up to two compact notification previews while the rest wait in a quiet queue.
  • Click a preview to open its app or the Windows notification center.
  • Hide sensitive content, show only the app icon or group rapid alerts from the same source.
  • Choose a preview duration from 10 to 30 seconds.
ZenithBar only mode
Windows decides which apps may send notifications. The shortcut in Settings opens the correct Windows controls so you can shape a quieter notification setup.
10 · Full screen

Invisible when immersion matters

ZenithBar detects games and selected full-screen apps, then gets out of the way until you are finished.

When Hide during games is enabled, ZenithBar detects true full-screen and borderless game sessions and temporarily hides the island.

  • Add manually excluded applications when a specific full-screen tool should hide the island too.
  • Common browsers and video players remain visible by default, so full-screen playback does not look like a game.
  • Windows capture and snipping overlays are excluded from automatic hiding.

The tray menu can also Pause or Resume ZenithBar without quitting it.

11 · Appearance

Make the island feel native

Choose its theme, size, display, activation behavior and what remains visible while it is idle.

Theme

Follow Windows or use the dedicated black or white island.

Scale

Choose 80%, 90%, 100%, 110% or 120%.

Position

Select the monitor where the island should appear.

Activation

Open on hover or only after a click.

Idle display

Show hours or date, enable the clock or stay completely compact.

Labels

Show section labels when active, always, or use icons only.

Motion

Reduce animation while preserving every feature.

Language

Use system language, English, Portuguese or Spanish.

12 · Profile

One Google connection, two jobs

Your profile can power Calendar and a private workspace backup while day-to-day data remains local.

A unified Google profile can serve both Calendar and workspace backup. The backup is stored in your private Google Drive application-data area rather than among your normal Drive files.

  • Back up your Quick Access arrangement, file shelf, clipboard workspace and preferences on demand.
  • Restore the saved workspace after reinstalling or moving to another PC.
  • See the last successful backup time before replacing your current setup.
  • Signing out disconnects Google services; ordinary local features continue to work.
13 · Activation

Try it, then keep it

ZenithBar includes a seven-day trial and a one-time license that can be verified offline on your PC.

7 daysFull free trial
One timePurchase model
OfflineSigned verification

Enter your ZenithBar key in Settings → License to activate. The signed key can be verified locally, so the island does not need a permanent internet connection to remain activated. Deactivate before moving the license when required.

14 · Local first

Your workflow belongs to you

Clipboard content, notifications and workspace data are processed on-device. Cloud backup only runs when you request it.

  • Clipboard captures and notification content are processed locally on the PC.
  • Files remain on your device unless you explicitly start a local phone transfer.
  • Calendar requests use read-only Google access.
  • Google Drive backup is optional, user-initiated and stored in a private application folder.
  • License information is protected using Windows secure storage.
Local-first is the default
Core island features do not depend on a ZenithBar account or a hosted content database.
15 · Help

The quick fixes

The most useful checks for media, Calendar, notifications, phone pairing and full-screen behavior.

About Windows download warnings
ZenithBar 0.1.2 is an early build and is not digitally signed yet. Your browser may first say the installer is not commonly downloaded, and Windows SmartScreen may then show “Publisher: Unknown” when you open it. These are reputation notices, not a malware detection. Continue only when the installer came from the official ZenithBar website and its SHA-256 is 23F794EBA134CA70BD2EB934545B0BEABC239775FB017BB10B2FA53711E99B63.
Windows shows two security notices

The first notice comes from browser download reputation. The second comes from SmartScreen when the unsigned installer opens. Review the source and compare the SHA-256 before choosing to continue.

Media is not appearing

Start playback in a supported desktop player or installed PWA, then confirm Media preview is not set to Hidden.

Calendar is not updating

Open Calendar settings, verify the active Google account and calendars, then check the automatic sync status.

Notification previews are missing

Allow Windows notification access, turn Preview on and confirm the source app is permitted in Windows Settings.

The phone cannot pair

Keep both devices on the same Wi-Fi, leave the pairing screen open and rescan the newest QR code.

The island hides unexpectedly

Review Hide during games and the manually excluded full-screen app list in Focus settings.

The island opens too easily

Switch activation from On hover to On click, or enable the compact idle behavior.
